Sydney to Bangkok via Singapore

1/03/2025 and 2/03/2025

A night sleeping in a plane seat between two strangers is always an enjoyable experience, right? Well of all the nights I've slept on this earth, that was certainly one of them. The last day in Sydney was spent watching the mighty Auckland FC drop several leads against Adelaide to draw 4-4, with the NSW Art Gallery sprinkled in. The art gallery was pretty cool, some really nice pieces in there, with an impressive building to match.

During dinner before heading to the airport, this old American geezer started talking to me about IQ testing, firstly in when he was drafted in the Marines for Vietnam, and then it increasingly started getting very racially charged about how different races have different IQ levels and the like. I should have known when he asked me relatively off the bat if I was "Celtic", never a good sign asking someone's racial background unprompted. Also like sure my ancestry is "Celtic" technically but what does that have to do with me an at least third (plus) generation New Zealander?

Anyway, following that weird exchange I did airport things and arrived in Singapore on a flight with Scoot. It was budget as, so there was no screens on the back of seats for the whole eight hours, although a surprising amount of leg room for my lanky legs. A layover in Singapore, which included a BK chicken and a coffee, before arriving in Bangkok at around 9am Thai time. A train and a metro before I was in my hostel, waiting for my room. I crashed the rest of the afternoon before venturing out for some food. After a pad see ew, I checked out the rooftop bar of the hostel and heard a guy play a set on the guitar, with me being the only one in attendance. He was really good and did some Beatles tunes which I appreciated. I left after that and had a well deserved night of sleep in an actual bed.
